Emergency numbers- Dial 112 or 999 they will put you through to police, ambulance, fire, etc…

Post offices :Most post offices are open Mon-Fri 9am-17.30 (most close between 1-2:15 pm for lunch) and some open on Saturdays 9am-13.00. Postal Codes in Dublin are presented as ‘Dublin plus a number’ – for example Dublin 1 (D1), Dublin 2 (D2). Odd numbers refer to areas north of the Liffey and even ones to areas south of the Liffey. They spread out numerically from the city centre.

It is a good idea to register at your embassy by leaving your contact info.

To be considered immediately upon arrival : If you want to open certain accounts in your name like a bank account, a mobile phone contract, etc…it is necessary to have YOUR name on at least one ‘official’ document (gas bill, electricity bill, rent contract…).
