Primary School Council, Secondary School Council, Administrative Council
The three school councils where parents of primary and secondary are represented, along with students of the secondary school and staff are:
- le Conseil d’école (The Primary School Council) which includes the three cycles in the kindergarten and primary school;
- le Conseil du Second Degré (The Secondary School Council) which covers both the junior and senior cycles of the secondary school ; and
- le Conseil d’établissement (The Administrative Council) which covers both the primary and secondary school.
The Primary School Council looks after all questions relating to the kindergarten and primary classes vis a vis education, daily life, equipment, hygiene and safety. All decisions voted at Primary School Council level must be ratified by the Administrative Council if related to the organisation of the school or by the Board of Management if of a budgetary nature.
The Secondary School Council is made up of parent representatives, students, teachers and the administration. It looks after all questions related to the running of the secondary school which may not necessarily need to be brought to the Administrative Council. It fulfils the same function for the secondary school as the Primary School Council does for the primary school and is answerable to the Administrative Council and the Board of Management in the same way. In the beginning of the school year, the headmaster points the teachers members from the Education Council. He consults them on the educational organisation terms and on the implementation of the school's project.
The Administrative Council looks after all elements of the school – education and school development as a whole. It is comprised of representatives of the parents, pupils, teaching staff and the administration.

Board of Management
The Board of Management (Le Comité de Gestion) comprises parent members elected annually at the time of the school’s Annual General Meeting as well as permanent members. The Board has the right to co-opt additional members as required.
The Board runs the school and makes decisions in relation to its financial management and locally employed staff members. It takes the Headmaster’s as well as the Administrative Council’s opinion into account in relation to any decisions relating to education or the day to day running of the school.
All parents or guardians of LFI pupils are eligible to join the board of management as is the case for all school councils. All parent members act on a purely voluntary basis. The Board of Management meets usually once a month.
We can be contacted at boardofmanagement@lfi.ie for any questions or comments you may have. Please note that all correspondence goes directly to the board of management and will be kept confidential within the board.
