How to apply to the Kindergarten & Primary School
It should be noted children who do not speak French will be accepted in Kindergarten (PS) and Junior Infants (MS) only.
Children applying to the primary school from Senior Infants (GS) must have a good level of French. For more information about the kindergarten, please see our '60 Questions and Answers to get to know the Kindergarten in the Lycée Français d'Ireland'.
In order for your application to be processed, please download and complete the application form Application for Enrolment and return it, with a copy of the child’s birth certificate (or a copy of the “Livret de Famille” or passport), by email to primaire@lfi.ie and by post to:

In the event of your child(ren) being offered a place, you will be sent an offer letter accompanied by the Terms and Conditions of Business and the Code of Behaviour. Your child(ren)’s place will only be confirmed upon receipt of your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions of Business and the Code of Behaviour as well as non-refundable payments of a €110 administration charge and €800 deposit per place offered. Please note that the €800 deposit will be credited against the first term’s school fees.
LFI is committed to educating children appropriate to their needs and irrespective of their religion, nationality or gender and to providing the physical and educational means to ensure the success of the child's education.
In the event of over-subscription to a particular class, applicants are placed on a waiting list. Admission to LFI is then pursuant to the following criteria:
- Be a sibling of an existing pupil;
- Level of French;
- Be an existing pupil of one of the AEFE’s schools;
- Have another connection to the LFI (e.g. child(ren) of an employee, …………).
It should be noted that only after applying the school's admission criteria as above will the date on which the application was made be taken into consideration in placing an applicant on the waiting list.
All decisions in relation to admission are taken by the headmaster. Appeal may be made to the Board of Management and the Board's decision will be final.

- For pupils applying under the Host Family Programme, a motivation letter from the pupil as well as a letter of recommendation from their current headmaster must also accompany the application.

For pupils applying under the Host Family Programme, the pupil’s details will be forwarded to the Host Family Co-ordinator only upon your acceptance of the offered place as above and upon receipt by the school of a €600 Host Family Administration charge.
